Adrian showed a really strong and impressing performance at the final race of the 2011 season. Adrian drove to P8 in the Qualifying session which let him win the internal Qualifying duel with Paul di Resta. Starting form this really good position Adrian drove a fantastic race and proved, that he is in a amazing shape at this point of his career.

He was a long time quite close to Nico Rosberg and could pass him with the first pit stop. As the soft tyres didn't last as long as expected, Adrian changed to a three-stop-strategy, by which he droped back behind the two-stopper Rosberg again. But Adrian was quicker than Nico and so he could pass him on the track. Adrian could drive out a comfortable gap between himself and the Mercedes GP pilot and finished on P6, because Hamilton had to give up with a damaged gearbox.

With this great result, Adrian could underline his strong performance in the second half of the season. He beat his team mate and impressed with strong races and performances. At the end Adrian finished the season ninth in the drivers championship and reached his season aim.

“I’m really happy about the result today. It completes a great weekend where everything went to plan. I had a good feeling in all the sessions and the team did a brilliant job to give me such a good car today. We also made the right calls with the strategy because we knew there was a chance to beat Mercedes, and that’s exactly what we did. So I’m very happy with my sixth place – it’s the best way to end the year and it also means that I move up to ninth place in the drivers’ championship, which was my aim.”
